ECO FAIR GROWS VANCOUVER’S GREEN BUSINESSES FOR THIRD YEAR IN A ROW

Vancouver, BC (February 8, 2010) - ICE Promotions Society (ICE) in partnership with Students In Free Enterprise at the British Columbia Institute of Technology (SIFE BCIT) announces the third annual Spring Living Fair (SLF). From 10am to 5pm on April 25, the Spring Living Fair will open the doors at its new venue, the Yaletown Roundhouse community center’s main hall.

This free to the public community event will bring together over 60 local businesses and entrepreneurs with residents of Vancouver to promote a commitment to environmentalism, economic sustainability, and fair trade. Visitors to this one-day community fair and market will leave with an increased awareness and understanding of sustainable living practices and healthy, green products available within their own community.

“Fair Trade, Organic, Local, Green etc… Fundamentally it’s clear that we “get it,” that is to say that our society is aware of the importance of these ideas. The next hurdle is to put them into action - which is where I think that most of us struggle. During the SLF, event exhibitors will be showcasing their innovative, ethical and eco-friendly alternatives to products and services that are already being consumed.” – Scott Larson-Zutter, Event Manager.

SLF History
The SLF began in 2008 with a one-day-long event held at the Heritage Hall in Vancouver. The event showcased some thirty “eco-friendly” vendors and attracted more than 1,000 visitors. In 2009 the SLF grew enormously to include three events held over the course of two days, which included a vendor showcase, a benefit concert, and a fashion show, which attracted more than 2,000 visitors.
